Welcome!
Let me begin by saying that the search for the right tutor can be as hard (if not harder!) than the subject or class that prompted you to seek help in the first place. The wonders of the internet have put the access to dozens of private tutoring companies, quite literally, at our fingertips, each touting high success rates, highly trained tutors, and discounted package deals, all laid out on fancy websites. Processing all of this information can be anxiety provoking because it often raises more questions than it answers. Do I go with the big company or the small one? What if I don't like my tutor? Why do some companies require than I commit to a package deal? What will my tutor’s qualifications be? Can I get a background check?
And so on and so forth, ad infinitum... Finding a tutor who is a good fit for you or your child’s need can often feel like a task of Herculean proportions.
So let me tell you a little bit about me. I should begin by saying that Einstein’s Lighthouse is not your average tutoring company, which is true for many reasons. The first reason is that I am Einstein’s Lighthouse and Einstein’s Lighthouse is me. I am founder, owner, and employee all rolled into one and, as such, you can always be certain of the quality service you will receive from this company. I am a full-time private tutor with over 15 years of teaching experience. I have a PhD in physics and bachelor’s degrees in both mathematics and physics so I know the subject material inside and out. Consequently, whether you a high school student needing help with algebra or you are spinning your wheels with a physics or calculus class in college, you can rest assured that I will be able to help you.
The second thing that makes Einstein’s Lighthouse different is that, although I’m highly skilled in science and math, I am not a genius. Yes, you read that right. I. AM. NOT. A. GENIUS.
You might be wondering why I would consider something like that so important to say that I would include it on the landing page of my tutoring website, so let me tell you. I believe it to be a common misconception that people who do well in math or science are extra smart in some way – that these subjects are somehow harder than others and, accordingly, only a small number of “gifted” people are able to do well in them. This is simply not true. Years of experience from both sides of the classroom have taught me that a strong performance in these classes is within reach for everyone. The ability to solve problems logically occurs naturally in all of us, but the key to accessing it is twofold: First, the subject material must be explained in a way that makes sense to us (which invariably differs from person to person) and we must find the confidence in ourselves to believe that we are capable of accomplishing difficult things. As tutor with years of experience working with hundreds of students, I know how to work with my clients to create a teaching plan that aligns with unique needs of each individual student. Secondly, I put as much energy into teaching the material as I do into teaching my students to believe in themselves because the knowledge that we worthy, intelligent, and just a talented as everyone else is the first step to becoming masters of our own lives. And while your goals for seeking tutoring may purely academic, I can assure you (from my own personal experience) that the effects of learning how wonderfully capable you are ripple forward and benefit your life in ways you never have imagined. And who wouldn’t want that?
So yes… Einstein’s Lighthouse is a great place to find academic services that are second to none. Perhaps more importantly, however, it is the perfect place to learn about the amazing, wonderful things that you or your child are capable of! Passing on these ideas on to others is my passion and the reason I have been doing this for 15 years. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed in one of your classes or just feel you need a fresh perspective, feel free to reach out.
The light here is always on and the door is always open.
